Littlehummingbirds - the beginning...
by Patricia Chalkley Reiki Master/Teacher
The night before I was to have my Reiki master attunements I had a realistic dream in which I was told to write down something after my attunements. I wrote myself a note so as not to forget and enthusiastically went along to the session. I had previously experienced some wonderfully enlightening visions during the first 2 degrees of Reiki, and this was to be no exception -
During the process of attunements I began to see a vision…
I was sitting on the top of a very high rock which reached the clouds. As I looked down far below me I could see the tops of trees and valley’s. I was a little wary of being so high and recall feeling nervous, then a strong feeling came over me to step off of the rock, so I did, and immediately the ground beneath me turned into lush fields of flowers. I was in a beautiful meadow.
I walked through tall grasses and felt as if I had the presence of others around me but I could not see them. As I continued through the meadow it suddenly became ice. All around me was completely frozen and I seemed to be standing at the edge of a frozen lake with huge icebergs on all sides. I felt apprehensive but my curiosity got the better of me and I walked forwards. I again became aware of the presence of others around me, and this time I caught a glimpse of people behind the icebergs peering round at me.
As soon as I saw them they hid. I did not feel afraid. I looked forwards and this time I saw a man dressed all in white standing in what appeared to be the middle of the ‘lake’. I made my way towards him. He had shoulder length brown hair and his slim face with defined cheekbones was partly covered with a short beard and moustache. As he looked at me without speaking, I was immediately drawn to the colour of his eyes; they were the most beautiful blue I have ever seen.
I felt humble and was mesmerised by the peaceful presence of this ‘man’. He held a staff in his hand with a cut crystal top. He drew a circle in the ice which fell into the water beneath, exposing lots of fish. Taking one of them, he gave it to me with the staff. Smiling at me, his only words were,” Now give this to the people”. I accepted the ‘gifts’ and looked down at them. As I raised my head to ask him why, he had completely vanished.
I turned and walked back towards the meadow which I could now see in the distance. As I sat on the rock, pondering over my experience, I saw a Japanese man come towards me. He told me to write down some symbols that were going to help me in healing.I came out of my vision and immediately asked for a pen and paper, closed my eyes and began to draw…
As I drew the symbol, I heard a phrase which I also wrote down; “Let there be love, where there is love, let there be light”. I knew this special symbol could be used to help heal those who had traumatic childhood experiences and were lacking in the feelings of love. The symbol also helps treat all conditions of the physical body whereby disease has occurred due to a lack of ‘loving nourishment’, in an emotional sense.The name for this symbol was to be, ‘Little Hummingbird’.When I explained to a friend of mine, she told me that there was a symbol of a hummingbird somewhere near Machu Picchu.
I also came across the Native American Indian philosophy in the Medicine cards of Jamie Sams and David Carson, relating to this wonderful little bird, and was pleased to discover the following magical qualities;
‘The song of Hummingbird awakens medicine flowers. Hummingbird sings a vibration of pure joy! Hummingbird’s feathers have been used for a millennium to make love charms. It is said that Hummingbird conjures love as no other medicine does, and that Hummingbird feathers open the heart. If Hummingbird flies into your life, your presence brings joy to others. You join people together in relationships which bring out the best in them. You know instinctively where beauty lies, and be it near or far, you journey to your ideal. You move comfortably within a beautiful environment and help others taste the succulent nectar of life. To practice Hummingbird medicine brings joy and a renewal of the magic of living!
I understand from this now my reasons for living in Lesvos Greece and the work I do in all aspects relates to the spiritual wisdom of this wonderful little bird.
Therefore I wish you love and light into your life, and may you have the courage to spread your wings and fly!...
